Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is celebrated during the month of May fto recognize the contributions and influence of Asian Americans (inclusive of Asian/Pacific Islander/Southwest Asian/Desi American communities) to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.“The Queer Asian Social Club reminds me so much of the origin of OUTAthletics (formerly OUTWOD) that I started in New York City in 2011 as a place to find, meet, network, and sweat with other queer CrossFitters,” said Will Lanier, Founder of OUTAthletics. “It’s part of our organization’s DNA to help lift others whenever we can, but it’s particularly important for us to stand with the AAPI community during these times of violence and racism to stop AAPI hate.”Formerly known as The Gaysian Project, the Queer Asian Social Club focuses on sharing and celebrating stories of individuals and activists in their community through their weekly web-zine DIS-ORIENT, their instagram page, and their podcast the Queer Asian Podcast Club. They are a collective that is focused on using visibility to empower community for queer and trans APISWAD (Asian/Pacific Islander/Southwest Asian/Desi) folks.“The 2020 and 2021 Queer Asian Experience comes with a lot of confusion, anger, and sadness, but what about joy? Can we even recognize joy and pleasure when it presents itself to us? What if reclaiming our queer Asian joy is the most radical act of healing we can do for ourselves?" said Maya Reddy, Founder Queer Asian Social Club. "Endorphins are for Everyone, so who better to celebrate our bodies - every body - than with OUTAthletics a group that is all about creating space for movement that is inclusive and safe and uplifting of the LGBTQ+ community."Check back throughout the month for more information and updates on this page...
