Job Title: Executive Director
Organization: The OUT Foundation

The Executive Director (ED) of The OUT Foundation will serve as the chief executive responsible for advancing the organization’s mission to support and empower LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly youth, through advocacy, education, and community-building initiatives. The ED will lead fundraising efforts, oversee daily operations, manage staff and volunteers, and build relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring long-term sustainability and impact. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with proven nonprofit management experience, strategic growth and product portfolio expansion and a passion for LGBTQ+ rights.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising & Donor Relations
Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term fundraising strategy.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and grant-making organizations.
Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including corporate sponsorships, grants, and planned giving.
Oversee grant writing, reporting, and donor stewardship activities to maximize retention and engagement.
Manage direct mail campaigns and capital campaigns.
Oversee fundraising efforts for general operations, programs, and events.
2. Organizational Leadership & Management
Develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Ensure operational efficiency, financial stability, and adherence to nonprofit best practices.
Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Oversee all administrative functions, including financial management, HR, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Act as the primary liaison between the board and staff, ensuring effective governance and communication.
3. Board Relations & Governance
Support board development, engagement, and strategic planning.
Provide regular updates on the organization’s progress, finances, and challenges.
Assist in recruiting and onboarding new board members.
Work with the board to develop policies and ensure strong organizational oversight.
4. Community Engagement & Public Relations
Serve as a key spokesperson for The OUT Foundation at public events, media engagements, and community forums.
Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and businesses.
Develop marketing and outreach strategies to raise awareness of The OUT Foundation’s mission and programs.
Foster relationships within the LGBTQ+ community to enhance engagement and participation in existing as well as new offerings.
5. Program Development & Oversight
Ensure the quality and effectiveness of all programs, aligning them with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
Expand and grow the portfolio of offerings and services to meet the evolving needs of the LGBTQ+ community while aligning with the mission and providing financial growth and stability of the OUT Foundation.
Oversee program evaluation and data collection to measure impact.
Support local chapter development and engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5+ years of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and organizational management.
Proven success in fundraising, including major gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships.
Strong experience in strategic planning, financial oversight, and staff management.
Experience with growing a portfolio of products in a nonprofit organization.
Familiarity with LGBTQ+ issues and a deep commitment to social justice and community empowerment.
Deep network of donors with ability to access and engage them in our mission.
Excellent public speaking, writing, and relationship-building skills.
Knowledge of nonprofit compliance, governance, and reporting requirements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, donor databases, and financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks).
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience in health, fitness, or wellness is a plus.
