The OUT Foundation & Modern Military Association of America Partner to Honor LGBTQ+ Service Members this Memorial Day

For the third consecutive year, The OUT Foundation and the Modern Military Association of America (MMAA) are partnering to celebrate U.S. service members (both those who have passed and those who are living) who have made an impact in the LGBTQ+ community. Those donating $20 or more to this year’s OUTMemorial fundraising campaign will receive a limited edition patch to add to their vests to show their support for LGBTQ+ veterans and service members.“We’re excited and proud to be partnering with the Modern Military Association to honor LGBTQ+ service members for the third year in a row,” said Eddie Plata, Executive Director of The OUT Foundation. “We Honor All, and that’s why this is one the most meaningful campaigns we participate in each year.”The OUTMemorial fundraising campaign is centered around the memorial CrossFit workout “MURPH” which is performed by CrossFit affiliates around the world every Memorial Day and involves participants wearing a weighted vest to symbolize the weight of the gear service members carry. “We are thrilled to partner with The OUT Foundation again this year to highlight some of our amazing LGBTQ+ service members and veterans,” said Jennifer Dane, MMAA Executive Director. “We have seen continued challenges as well as positive changes impacting the lives of LGBTQ+ military members, veterans and dependents over the past year, and we remain committed to advancing fairness and equality for the communities we serve.”Last year’s campaign raised over $3,800, and all donations received will be split evenly to support the work of The OUT Foundation and the Modern Military Association of America, both registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.To further celebrate LGBTQ+ service members, The OUT Foundation and the Modern Military Association of America have created their own Hero WODs to share on social media through Memorial Day.
