The OUT Foundation & OutServe-SLDN Issue Joint Statement in Honor of LGBTQ+ Veterans

"The LGBTQ veteran community is resilient, diverse, and eager for support. While access to vital services has improved for LGBTQ veterans, there is still much work to be done to ensure we are given the care we deserve and the resources we need to thrive. We are grateful to The OUT Foundation for consistently creating welcoming spaces for LGBTQ athletes and highlighting the needs and experiences of the LGBTQ veteran community. This Veterans Day, honor the sacrifices of LGBTQ veterans by continuing the fight for equity and justice in your own communities. Together we can build a society that prioritizes meaningful care over needless suffering, demands respectful and culturally competent services, and celebrates diversity."

-Kai River Blevins, Director of Education & Veteran Services for OutServe-SLDN

"This Veterans Day, we are proud to stand with OutServe-SLDN to honor and support our LGBTQ+ service members. While it is our mission to always create welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals in health and fitness, without the sacrifices of our veterans, our freedom to live openly and honestly would not be possible. There is more work to be done - and that work starts with ensuring the U.S. LGBTQ+ military community is able to live and serve authentically."

-Will Lanier, Executive Director of The OUT Foundation
