Honoring the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall

Will Lanier

Executive Director, The OUT Foundation
"50 years ago, our foremothers and forefathers had enough – and they chose to fight.Their choice at Stonewall that night sparked a revolt, built a movement, and led to a revolution for the LGBTQ+ community. Their courage dared us to live authentically, provided us with the strength to survive the AIDS epidemic, won us the freedom to marry, and gave us the ability to celebrate Pride. But as we gather for World Pride in NYC and Pride month comes to a close, we must remember that our battle is not over. And that’s why, in their spirit, we work every day to fight for LGBTQ+ inclusion in health, wellness, and fitness. While we’ll never have to fight as hard as those before us did, we must do our part to ensure that our community thrives – both for ourselves and for those who come after us.We owe them that much."
