Trans Boxer Wins Debut Competing in Men's Professional Match

Did you catch this story? If not, NPR has a great interview with Patricio Manuel and I encourage you to give it a listen.

We’re so proud of Patricio - not only for his win in the ring, but the courage he's shown to live authentically.  Like many LGBTQ+ athletes, he faced discrimination from his gym during his transition, and that's why we must continue our work to help make fitness a safe space for EVERYONE.

To do our part, we're launching our "Don't Be An A**hole, Transgender Education Tour" to speak directly to gym owners across the country and educate them about how to be more inclusive and welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community.  We're also sponsoring OUTAthletes through scholarships to help them begin or continue on their fitness journey. And finally, we're providing funding for at least six gender-affirming surgeries in 2019 through a partnership with NYU Langone Health.

But enough about us - Congratulations to Patricio and we hope he keeps kicking a** in the ring!

Xoxo,
