Solidarity isn’t a Slogan
“…Some people may wonder why a fitness and wellness nonprofit is speaking up about this. Here’s the simple answer: LGBTQ+ equality does not exist as a separate movement. The same forces that target immigrants, Black communities, and other marginalized people are the forces that try to control bodily autonomy and decide whose love is “real” love. If we’re serious about building a lasting world where LGBTQ+ people can live openly and safely, we have to care when our neighbors are being harmed - because none of us are truly safe when any of us can be treated as disposable.…”
Inclusion Isn’t a One-Time Event
“The OUT Foundation acknowledges CrossFit’s recent decision to reopen the Open to broader participation, including trans and nonbinary athletes. We welcome this change, and we recognize that it reflects the effort and advocacy of many athletes, coaches, and affiliates who have long been calling for more inclusive policies… Allowing participation in one stage while blocking authentic participation in later stages is not true inclusion. Inclusion cannot be confined to a single event or used as a symbolic gesture. It must be embedded across every part of the competitive structure — divisions, qualification pathways, prize eligibility, and governance…”
