OUT in the OPEN IS BACK! The Only LGBTQ+ Leaderboard for the CrossFit Open
The OUT Foundation is launching our annual OUT in the OPEN Leaderboard for the 2022 CrossFit Games Open. Hundreds of athletes will be joining the inclusive leaderboard to celebrate diversity and encourage equity in the CrossFit Games.Athletes around the world will be competing to qualify for the CrossFit Games, and the OUT in the OPEN LGBTQ+ Leaderboard aggregates scores from the CrossFit Games Open to ensure an inclusive experience for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to compete with each other to win weekly prizes. All funds raised will go to support The OUT Foundation. OUT in the OPEN allows all gender identities and expressions to participate in a sport they love. By using CrossFit Games verbiage of “CrossFit Men’s Standards” and “CrossFit Women's Standards”, the OUT in the OPEN Leaderboard permits an athlete the choice of which standards they wish to compete under. All LGBTQ+ athletes and allies are encouraged to register to be OUT in the OPEN at www.iamout.org/open. "This is the only leaderboard of its kind for the LGBTQ+ community,” said Will Lanier, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of The OUT Foundation. “As we navigate changing norms and breaking down the barriers for the LGBTQ+ community, The OUT Foundation never stops trying to bring inclusive and equitable alternatives to the conventional systems that are currently in place. We also work with organizations encouraging them to make these changes. CrossFit Games is working with us to continue the important conversation and actions of inclusion.”Last year’s OUT in the OPEN included 339 athletes ages 17-66 representing 24 countries, 47 US states, and 9 Canadian provinces. It raised over $55,000 to benefit The OUT Foundation’s programs that advocate for inclusion and access for the LGBTQ+ community in fitness, health and wellness.Athletes should visit www.iamout.org/open to learn more, register today, and start fundraising!
